We are a locally based affordable food scheme operating in Hollingdean and Whitehawk in Brighton. We offer a community based, friendly affordable shop, made up from surplus food, plus store cupboard food we buy in. We focus on fresh fruit and veg, and there's always a good supply of bread and milk too!

Members support us by making a suggested donation, but we are a solidarity scheme which means we accept however much our shoppers are able to donate, according to their means. Most of our members are struggling to make ends meet and our service really helps tight budgets go further. We support around 150 households every week.

We try to be as eco-conscious as possible, and at the end of the week, any food we have in surplus is distributed via a Friday surplus store and cafe. We really never throw any food away!

Each store is run by volunteers, drawn mainly from the local membership, supported by our small and dedicated staff team, so there is a strong sense of community at each store. We have around 40 volunteers helping us out.

We are asking for donations to help with the ongoing costs of running the scheme and to allow us to keep our membership fees as low as possible. £7 means we can cover the total cost of someone's shop.

Thank you for your support!
