For the Love of Chips - 950 Mile LEJOG Bike Ride

EMMA HAS SMASHED HER £500 TARGET! BUT WE'D LIKE YOU TO HELP HER RAISE MORE TO SUPPORT THE INSTALLATION OF A BIKE RACK AT YORK HOUSE - PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN. Essentially Local magazine owner, Emma Johnson, is going on an epic journey that will see her cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats. She’ll be largely cycling alone, without a support team or a hotel at the end of the day or someone to prepare her a hot meal; but with a bit of luck she will find a hot shower! She is aiming to complete this challenge in just under two weeks – travelling the 950 miles (assuming she doesn’t go the wrong way) - that’s 70 to 80 miles each day! With the tent, sleeping bag, spare clothes and bike tools on the back and a few hills it won’t be a quick ride. Emma has been training hard and we are sure she will succeed! Emma is about all things local and knows the benefits of sporting activities and she has also always been a great supporter of York House Centre. When she heard about the centre’s project, “Outside is for Everyone!”, she approached York House about getting sponsorship to help. York House Centre is the youth, community and arts centre for Stony Stratford and the surrounding area. The building and grounds are used by a wide variety of different groups representing all sectors of our community including youth clubs, health & well-being groups, self-help groups, learning & work groups for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, youth drama classes, baby & toddler groups and lots more. The aim of 'Outside is for Everyone!' is to make York House’s outside spaces fully accessible for all users and to encourage outside activities, including sports. We need your support to raise money to improve the access to their AstroTurf area so that it is accessible for all their users (particularly those with physical disabilities) and to complete the installation of sports netting.
