An exciting new chapter for the Localgiving Foundation

We’re delighted to announce that social entrepreneur Tom Latchford has been appointed as the new Chair of the Localgiving Foundation. Tom has helped raise tens of millions of pounds for charities online as founder of Raising IT, which is the UK market leader for websites and fundraising tools for the third sector. He will be bringing his experience, passion and philanthropic pedigree to help more local charities grow.

Marcelle Speller, the Foundation’s founder, has decided to hand the reins to Tom after 9 years’ service. We are hugely grateful to Marcelle for her vision in setting up Localgiving and her leadership throughout our first decade. Marcelle’s passion for local charities continues unabated and she will remain an ambassador for the organisation.

A fond farewell from Sian O’Neill

02 Oct 2017

Walking into the office of the Community Foundation of Northern Ireland in July 2015 was nerve wracking enough but made worse with the knowledge that this was no ordinary first day. After the usual flurry of names that come with the first day in any new job, I was being sent off to the airport and ....

We depend on a steady stream of smaller donations via Localgiving. These donations alone give us the assured income to meet our operational costs. Matched funding, sponsored by both Localgiving and the Community Foundation have further bolstered our funds to allow us to undertake capital improvements to the Shed.
