We've teamed up with shopping and price comparison site, Give As You Live, to enable Localgiving members to benefit from a new funding stream!

With Give as you Live, supporters can raise donations for their choice of local cause at no extra cost to them, simply by shopping online. With over 4,000 major retailers to choose from, a percentage of every purchase will go directly to charity.

How do I sign up my charity to take part?

If you’re already a Localgiving member then you are automatically included in the scheme - all you need to do is direct your supporters to sign up. If your group is not a member of Localgiving, you can join here.

I support a charity that's a member of Localgiving - how can I support them through Give as you Live?

Simply go to Give.as/localgiving and type in the name of the charity you'd like to support - then sign up! Please note that in order to support a Localgiving charity you must use the link above. You may not be able to find the group through the normal Give as you Live search.

Where does the money come from?

Like other price comparison websites, Give As You Live generates money through affiliate marketing. This means that retailers pay commission each time a sale is generated for them through the Give As You Live site and at least 50% of this is passed on to the charity of the supporter's choice.

So does the supporter have to pay more for their purchases?

No, all donations revenue comes from the retailer, not the shopper. All the shopper needs to do is make sure they visit their chosen retailer through the Give As You Live site or install the Give As You Live toolbar for their browser.

Will I be able to see details of the purchases, who made them and what commission was generated?

No, all donations income will be grouped and shown in your Localgiving account under the supporter name 'Give As You Live'. No further details will be available at this time.

When will I receive a payment after a donation has been received through Give As You Live?

When donations have been generated through Give As You Live, they are forwarded to you on a monthly basis. They will paid out as part of the usual weekly payments we make and you will be able to see details of the payment in your Localgiving income report in your account.

What if my organisation is already a member of Give As You Live?

That's fine - you're existing GAYL account will remain as normal. Any supporters who sign up to support your organisation through Give.as/localgiving will raise funds that are paid to you via Localgiving. There are no extra fees associated with this and you will receive the same amount from each transaction as through your normal Give As You Live Account.

What if I’d rather not participate?

That’s fine - just send us an email to help@localgiving.com or give us a call on 0300 111 2340 saying you’d prefer to be excluded and we’ll make sure you’re removed.
