Supporting disabled children, young people and their families across bristol, Bath and NE Somerset
We run youth groups and a 1:1 Befriending Service both with the aim of providing regular opportunities for young people to develop their independence and a variety of life skills whilst having fun and making friends. This has the added benefits of reducing isolation for both young people and their families and supports parent carers by providing a regular break from their caring responsibilities.
Why the community needs usTime2Share supports disabled children and young people to actively participate in their local environment, building a more inclusive community through increasing awareness, changing perceptions and attitudes by empowering disabled young people to make a positive contribution. Our work also enables parent carers to have a regular break each week to explore their own interests in the community.
Our impact on the communityBoth befriending and youth groups support disabled young people to have a more active lifestyle, regular contact with friends, as well as increased independence and life skills. This contributes towards improved self-esteem, a positive outlook and an increased sense of well-being for our young people. In turn, the regular breaks our services offer family members helps towards reducing stress and isolation, improving their well-being and quality of life.
If you have 2-3hours a week, and can be a positive role model to a disabled child or young person to support them to access their local community, boost their independence and social skills. Join our 1:1 Befriending Scheme today!
