About the appeal

Mandy Taylor MBE was Yorkshire’s very own much-loved volunteer and Charity Angel.

She collectively raised more than £2 million for local Charities both within her home county of Kirklees and across the Yorkshire Region.

Despite her terminal cancer diagnosis, she drew on her boundless positivity to continue giving and looking for ways to help others. She believed that while you can’t add days to your life, you can add life to your days.

To many Mandy was nothing short of a sparkly pink sequinned beacon of hope.
Before her passing in December 2021, in true Mandy style, she launched the #bemoremandy campaign.

Mandy said at the time “I want to pass the baton on. I want people to be inspired to be more Mandy whether that’s for one day or for a lifetime. This could be an amazing legacy.”
Many have already seized the baton to raise funds for Mandy’s chosen foundation: One Community Foundation.
Here’s a message from their Chief Executive Officer, Emma Woods-Bolger:
“One Community, a specialist team of local experts who put donations to work through a growing network of over 2,500 Kirklees-based charities and community organisations.

We’re proudly independent. On a mission to do good. Using our community connections to make sure every donation makes the most impact.

We worked with Mandy to set up the #BeMoreMandy endowment fund. The funds raised will be invested and the interest earned from the investment will be awarded as grants on an annual basis to charities and community projects across Kirklees. To kick start the fund we offered to match pound for pound every donation to the fund up to £10,000.

The type of fund set up means the #BeMoreMandy fund will be here forever, a legacy in Mandy’s memory”.
