We are a Community Interest Company and our mission is to provide a space for parents and carers to work flexibly, supporting each other to have fulfilling careers and healthy family lives, whilst their children blossom in versatile, quality childcare. We hope to have our own building one day but for now we're starting with weekly pop-up sessions at Windmill Hill City Farm where mums and dads can use the coworking space and network while children are taken care of in the nearby creche.
Why the community needs usChildcare is a major barrier to women working - half a million more mothers could be in work if childcare was cheaper and more flexible. There are no coworking spaces with childcare in Bristol, but they do exist in Birmingham, Kent and London. Most local nurseries have two year waiting lists, and none offer flexible spaces. Each pop-up will provide childcare for 9 - 15 children under five. Caboodle is run by a group of local mums who volunteer their time for the benefit of families in Bristol.
Our impact on the communityThrough Caboodle, we hope to see more parents able to work flexibly, earning more money, setting up more businesses, spending more quality time with their children and feeling more fulfilled. We will have a maximum of 15 spaces at each pop-up and hope to expand to more pop-ups around Bristol in 2018.
