We aim to bring generations together using the power of music and creativity.
Intergenerational Music Making (IMM) is a UK based Intergenerational music therapy organisation. We bring local schools, colleges & universities together with their local care homes to:
• reduce isolation/tackle loneliness.
• improve mental health for the older & younger generation.
• improve well-being for the older & younger generation.
• create a more COHESIVE community whilst tackling ageism.
Our projects bring together children and those living with Dementia in unique music projects.
Why the community needs usOur projects bring together targeted groups, those living with Dementia, those suffering with mental health difficulties and those socially & economically deprived. When the the outbreak started, our number one priority was to keep those at risk safe. The groups we work with include those over 70 living in care homes and in our communities, geriatric wards & vulnerable children. We created Care to Create - A solution has been found, creativity has flourished and people are staying connected.
Our impact on the communityThis initiative was born from the children and elders desire to stay in contact with their friends in the care homes, community centres, schools, NHS wards and intergenerational hubs. Care to Create draws on the digital and non-digital, virtual and tangible. We are working collaboratively with other organisations in creating solutions during this time of isolation. We are determined to nurture intergenerational connections and find ways to offer music, art and vital support to our clients.
