Young Superheroes Winter Fundraiser

This winter, we are raising money to support young people that although have the potential to succeed are at risk of being excluded from school and exploited by perpetrators in gangs.

About our superhero young people
Your efforts will help us support these young people that commonly live on social housing estates, often from unemployed or low-income households, with limited incomes to pay for extra circular activities, holiday clubs, or investment into interests or hobbies. The young people we work with are natural leaders and future change-makers, however they do not have access to information or opportunities that will develop the necessary skills or qualities to ensure that their leadership skills are used for good.

Case Study - Kory (aged 14)

Kory's mother approached The Mentoring Lab concerned that Kory was very close to being permanently excluded from school. With issues occurring mainly in his English lesson, school support was limited due to budget cuts.

We were able to provide Kory with 12 weeks of 1 hour, one to one tuition in English maths, and 1-hour of Mentoring using Art to facilitate his progression. Kory also took part in our GAME TIME 'on estate' youth engagement programme.

Kory says 'I am much happier now. The support from The Mentoring Lab has brought me and my mum closer. I have more confidence in myself and I now know I'm good at subjects. I believe I am getting more intelligent within my topics. My headteacher wrote my mum a letter because I'm doing so well at school now. Being a part of The Mentoring Lab has made me have more purpose, motivation, and dedication'.

Kory is not alone, many young people that live on housing estates children are simply not given a chance because of where they live or their families background.

How can you help?

Double your donation between 27th October and 9th November and help us help Hackney's most vulnerable at-risk youth.

Any donation you make through our local giving fundraising platform will be matched, being doubled and there is no limit to the number of donations we can receive.

So, here's a breakdown of what your donation can help us do;

£25 will cover the cost of 1 hour of online tutoring or mentoring

£100 will cover the cost of one month's mentoring, using high-impact coaching tools.

£600 will cover the cost of 1 vulnerable young person's receiving 6 months weekly one to one befriending /mentoring or tuition.

£25,000 will help us to support 300 young people in accessing our online after school club, weekly mentoring, and study groups, for one year.

Raising £105,000 we help us to be superheroes, keep us going for another year, and supporting up to 4000 young people.

In other words, we only need 200 people to raise £525 to raise enough money to keep us going for another year!
