Supporting the families of Kingston by providing free baby clothes, equipment and various courses

The Growbaby aim is simple, to support local families in need, regardless of income, faith or background dependent on the perception of need from the community rather than our own view. Its starting point was the provision of free baby clothing and equipment. We have a huge number of outreach projects, these include a breast feeding drop in, a "skills for life" group for young parents, all antenatal classes for young parents giving birth in Kingston hospital, the continued provision of clothing and equipment, English classes and parenting classes. In 2018 one of the team in Growbaby Kingston developed a parenting course for parents with children with sensory processing and attachment disorders.

Why the community needs us
Growbaby Kingston is fully embedded in the local community and works with multiple agencies such as the women's refuges, children's services, the police, the local council, the midwives and health visitors to name but a few. At Christmas it partners with Epsom College, the Met Police and the Nationwide building society to provide gifts for children in need who have been nominated by local agencies, in 2019 it provided 2,117 gifts.

Our impact on the community
Growbaby was established in 2003. Interventions vary from simply providing a cot to supplying everything for a new mum, or giving long term practical support and advice to a family for an extended period of time. They have worked with mothers, fathers, grandparents, friends, social services, health care workers, the police, the domestic violence refuges and neighbours and their capacity to support the local community has grown significanty since they moved to 'The Hub' in 2011.
