We are a small not-for-profit organisation supporting children, young people and adults with Autism.
We support young people with Autism who are either out of education, who require an enhanced curriculum and/or want to develop their social skills in order to be able to engage with their local community and the world around them. We devise bespoke programmes of support, delivered by our experienced and knowledgeable staff team through an outreach approach. We also run a monthly Saturday Club and a week long summer play scheme to support the development of social and recreational opportunities
Why the community needs usAutism is a developmental disorder which significantly impacts on a person's ability to communicate, interact with the social world, process information and filter and attend to sensory signals. We are the only organisation in Leicestershire currently offering access to a monthly autism-specific Saturday club for young people; and a week long summer play scheme and activity week each summer holiday. Without our support these young people would struggle to engage with the social world.
Our impact on the communityThe prevalence of Autism in the UK is currently 1 in 100. There are over 7,000 children in Leicestershire with a diagnosis. Over 50 young people with Autism, and their siblings, benefit from access to our Saturday Club and summer play scheme week; and we aim to help many more. Supporting these young people to access the social world opens up new opportunities for them - encouraging them to learn new skills and offering them the chance to develop greater understanding, independence and autonomy.
