Supporting communities in the St Davids Peninsula to improve our local environment
EcoDewi is a community group focused on projects in the St Davids Peninsula that try to tackle the climate emergency and the biodiversity crisis, whilst simultaneously improving community wellbeing. It’s about local people … helping with local issues … and benefiting our local natural environment. And of course these benefits will all have a much wider reach, complementing other action to support our county, nation and the planet.

Project Case Study - Peninsula Beach Stewards 2020
This project began when residents approached EcoDewi for help, concerned about lots of locals & visitors rushing to use our local beaches, as the first COVID-19 lockdown eased, and the subsequent risk of littering the had occurred elsewhere in the UK. In a few days a plan was developed, discussions took place with the County Council and other key organisations, and then the recruitment of volunteers began. A presence at Whitesands Beach began on Tuesday 14th July and an average of two volunteers a day carried out beach cleans for 51 days through the summer, with around 30 volunteers clearing approximately 84 bags of rubbish. A huge success with locals, tourists and organisations offering their gratitude to the amazing volunteers who helped keep a community favourite beach clean.
