We are a specialist charity which supports adults and their families affected by aphasia
Led by Speech and Language Therapists Dyscover offers long term support for people with aphasia at different stages of recovery. Aphasia is a devastating Speech and Language condition often caused by stroke but it also forms part of a rare dementia called Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). We run group sessions for people with aphasia at different stages of their recovery from our two centres in Leatherhead Surrey and Kingston upon Thames. Alongside this we offer family support, a full programme of activities, courses, training and an outreach programme.
Why the community needs usWe are a unique provider of services for people with aphasia which adopts the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA). We offer a level of support un matched within the UK and are meeting an unmet need for people and their families affected by aphasia. We have a lot of volunteering and partnership working opportunities.
