Friends of Figgate park

The Friends of Figgate Park promote and improve the Park for both Wildlife and Park users

In addition to our regular Park Clean Ups, ConservationTasks, Gardening and Planting days we have initiated many enhancement projects throughout the park to raise awareness and support its wildlife

Why the community needs us
Projects include Art under the Bridge, a Community Bird Table & Bench, a Bug Hotel using recycled shopping trolleys, a Butterfly Border, a Wildlife Bank, a Sapling Nursery, Willow Structures and a community edible growing space 'Fruity Corner', a perennial white wildflower meadow alongside the pond, a medicinal woodland patch and regular planting of bulbs, saplings and berry rich plants. We are currently working to also change part of the annual meadow to a perennial meadow this will extend the flowering season to provide early and late food sources for bees. Prior to lockdown restrictions we also ran Figgy Kids every month, ran projects with local schools and talks with local community groups.
