First Steps Women's Centre (FSWC) provides a safe secure setting for women for purpose learning.
First Steps Women's Centre (FSWC) is a Registered Charity (XR27582) established since 1998 and continues to provide training, education and support for women and their families in the Mid-Ulster area. We provide training, education courses in IT, Life Skills and Wellbeing programmes. FSWC also offers a range of support services including Childcare, Transport, Counselling and Benefit Checker. FSWC welcomes women and their families from over 20 nationalities
Why the community needs usOur mission statement - "Supporting Women's professional and personal development through education and training". FSWC delivers a variety and range of training to meet identified need, increase opportunities of professional and personal development through the provision of support services. FSWC provides a safe, secure, fit for purpose learning/working environment where women can come and build their confidence, make new friends and obtain a new qualification to move into employment.
Our impact on the communityIn the last year: 32 women availed of 139 Counselling sessions (which has a 4-6 week waiting list), Our Benefit Checker Service claimed £87,000 in unclaimed benefits. We helped 21 women into full time employment, another 21 women into part time employment, 3 women became self employed and 2 women went on to further education.
