St.Joseph's GAC, situated in a rural community setting, provides Gaelic games for all ages and abilities from as young as 4 years old. We have been growing rapidly over the last 10 years and want to continue to improve our role in our community by being a social hub, working alongside Ballymacrickett Primary School, the Parish of Glenavy and Killead and St. Clare's Community Hall.
Why the community needs usWe work with young people and families in the Glenavy and Crumlin area. Our doors are open to everyone in the wider community and we welcome all ages and backgrounds. As a social hub, members can avail of coaching from as young as 4 years old. We always strive to give our members a sense of belonging that will remain with them throughout their lives. Our Community Health and Wellbeing initiatives have been launched this year and we aim expand on these in the future, so keep an eye out for those!
Our impact on the communityWe continually strive to provide an outlet for members of our community to socialise, exercise and participate in sport. We aim to further reach out to our whole community in the coming years, especially those from a non GAA background. To facilitate this, our building project, in partnership with Ballymacrickett PS, will expand further our new 'trim-trail' around the whole Chapel Hill site in conjunction with a floodlit synthetic playing area on what is now our training field.
We are always on the look out for friendly, committed people who want to make a difference in our community and for our young people. Anyone can lend a hand, should it be something small as manning the shop during matches to being a club referee.
