Our independent, local charity gives free, expert advice that is confidential and impartial

We are here to provide the advice people need for the problems they face, and to improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives. Our advisers are mostly volunteers who are highly trained and skilled. They will listen without judging, tell you what the law says and help you to work out what your options are. If you need support to take action they can help with that too. We campaign for change on issues that matter to people like fuel poverty.

Why the community needs us
A local Citizens Advice in the community means there is always somewhere to turn to. We help people to take back control of their lives, deal with financial problems and get a fair deal. We challenge unfairness and discrimination. Our advice helps people to improve their health and quality of life, and reduces pressure on other services as well as putting money back in people's pockets to spend on local services.

Our impact on the community
Last year, we advised over 8,400 people on over 25,000 problems. We helped people to increase their incomes by a total of over £3.5 million and to deal with debts of over £1.5 million. 2 out of 3 clients asked said that their problem had been partly or completely sorted out. 81% said that they felt less stressed or anxious and 51% had improved their financial position as a result of our help. Our advice can help to prevent serious problems like homelessness.
