Building community connections through coffee/'talk' friendship,volunteering;& youth club activities
Through weekly Coffee Drop-in sessions within a relaxing environment; & YP Afterschool/holidays club activities, to work towards the relief of poverty by providing spiritual comfort & basic advocacy support or signposting enquirers (particularly disadvantaged families,children & YP,disabled/elderly people,BAME people,refugees & asylum seekers) to other agencies. Use volunteering to encourage people to help themselves by taking part in healthy lifestyles activities,awareness raising workshops etc
Why the community needs usThe project provided a sense of wellbeing & helped to perceive Riverside as a much safer place for people to live, work & play. Activities such as Coffee Drop-In Weds@1I.15am; Afterschool Club Fris 5:30pm, Art & Craft, intergenerational cooking, planting herbs, vegetables, plants & hanging baskets, outdoor sports, discussions re current issues educational trips for children & yp helped to reduce stress, anti-social behaviour, & increase peoples' confidence & abilities to learn better at school.
