The Principle Trust Children's Charity is a Yorkshire charity which provides disadvantaged, underprivileged and disabled children with a free week-long respite break. We aim to improve the quality of life of children and their families who are disadvantaged socially, physically, emotionally, as a result of extreme poverty, or those with additional needs or disabilities.
Why the community needs usWe provide respite breaks to underprivileged, disadvantaged, and disabled children from Yorkshire. With an aim of improving quality of life, the children we support include those who have life limiting conditions, complex and difficult disabilities, live in poverty and have experienced trauma or abuse.
We work with the local authorities, children’s social services, children’s centres, charities and schools to ensure that children and their families or carers, who are in need, benefit from the respite breaks we offer and have the opportunity to create special and lasting memories.
We own and operate six holiday home in total, providing circa 228 families every year with a free week-long holiday. We have four caravans located at the popular Haven Holiday Park Marton Mere, in Blackpool, and two holiday lodges at the tranquil Park Dean resort, White Cross Bay in Windermere; both our holiday lodges here have been carefully refurbished and adapted to support the needs of disabled children and children with additional needs.
We need volunteers to run fundraisers for us, help when we have an event on and spread the word about our charity and events. We also need collection boxes in local communities to help raise much needed funds. Or perhaps you have an hour or two to spare to come and help us out in our charity office in Skipton?
