Core Music CIC helps to make music accessible to everyone in the community, both locally in the Hexham area and further afield. We support our activities through trading as a music shop, renting space and equipment for rehearsals and more. However, not all our costs are covered through these activities because we aim to keep costs as low as possible for our users; as a result, we rely on funding and donations to keep our activities running.
Why the community needs usWe host a wide variety of music clubs, groups and workshops, bringing people together to make music and learn from each other. We also provide a space for local musicians to develop their own businesses in music tuition, by acting as a focal point for local people to seek tuition.
Our impact on the communityWe currently host over 200 instrument lessons every week, with thousands of people having come through our doors and experienced music-making at Core Music. Several young people have started their musical lives at Core Music and gone on to pursue careers in music, either as performers or as tutors themselves.
