Brave Bold Drama makes award-winning theatre and community art. We take community art events and performances to deprived areas through schools, libraries, early years setting and care homes. We are based in Withywood, south Bristol which is one of the most deprived wards of the city. We also make and tour award-winning theatre for families and for people living with dementia.

Why the community needs us
We break down the financial, logistical and cultural barriers that can prevent members, particularly in our local communities of Hartcliffe and Withywood, from engaging with the arts and exploring their own creativity. We listen to our community and respond organically to their interests. We work with an extremely broad range of community groups including preschool families, adults with learning difficulties, teenagers & older people at risk of isolation.

Our impact on the community
We take theatre and accessible community arts events to locations that suit people who otherwise find it challenging to access arts events or explore their own creativity. During lockdown we developed ways of reaching people remotely. We designed creative missions for children do at home and created a remote sensory project for older people living in care homes. We partner with many other organisations working locally in Hartcliffe and Withywood and across the city to maximise our impact.

Volunteers needed

We are a very flexible and small organisation. We are 2 freelance artists and a one-day a month equivalent volunteer. We will find a way to work with any skills that are willingly volunteered to us.
