We are a Scout Group in a socially deprived area in Swindon that provide fun , activity for children
To enhance and bring out the best for the children in our area within 3 age groups. We include boys and girls, and have a weekly program during school term. We have Equality and Diversity, and a Safeguarding policies in place. We also organise outdoor visits, community involvement and several camps in our yearly program. Our program is geared towards an educational program with the leaders voluntary giving up their time. The children earn badges and go through stages to attain skills and experiences to carry them through their development.
Why the community needs usWe give the children and parents to come together from different sections of the community to bond the whole community. We have activities such as camps, Christmas Show and Summer fayre to have fun and social interaction. We are seen in the community doing environmental work, outdoor badge work. All this this demonstrate and carry our ethos of honesty, fun, achievement, encouragement, sharing, etc.
Our impact on the communityWhen a child joins us at 6 years old, it is wonderful to see them go through the three stages from Beavers, Cubs to Scouts and even to Explorers. Eventually seeing the enter society as responsible adults with the ethos of continuing the good practices and experiences they learnt along the way in Scouting.
