Supporting girls aged 7-10 to have fun Brownie adventures, whilst learning and making new friends.
The aim of Guiding is to help girls and young women develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to society. At Westcroft Brownies in Milton Keynes we do this by encouraging all members to participate in a varied programme which includes lots of fun activities such as crafts, badge work, games and trips away. Girls, teenagers and adult volunteers from all sections of the community benefit from the opportunities that Guiding provides.
Why the community needs usThe skills that Brownies, and the volunteer leadership team develop by attending Westcroft Brownies in Milton Keynes contributes positively to the local community. Not only does the individual gain valuable interpersonal and life skills such as leadership, caring for others and gaining in confidence but the wider community benefits from promoting responsible citizens of the future. Brownies get involved in a number of worthwhile charitable events to support other organisations.
Our impact on the communityThe unit is self-financing and is run by a dedicated leadership team of volunteers. The Brownies and young leaders get fully involved in deciding the programme of activities each term. Archery, climbing, campfires, bowling, singing, making crafts as well as team building games are just a few of the fun activities Brownies get up to. Additional funding enables us to subsidise visits to make them accessible to all within the unit. We enjoyed a recent theatre trip and looking forward to Leicester.
