We are a traditional Scouting Group with our aim being to foster good citizenship in our local area
As an existing cub/scout group within the European Scout Organisation we are always looking at ways to develop the young people in our care. We aim to promote the education of young people of both sexes in the principles and practice of good citizenship and service to the community.
Why the community needs usWithin the local area there as a mixture of council and private housing. The children who are members of the group aged 5 upwards come from local schools of all denominations from the area. The children benefit from the work undertaken with them by gaining access to the countryside on various trips, camping, walking and kayaking. Parents have the opportunity to have respite from their children during the many weekend trips etc. The young people benefit by gaining self esteem, and confidence.
Our impact on the communityWithin the group we have worked with children who have specific needs such as autism, dyspraxia, deafness and English as their second language. These children have been allowed the chance to work with their peers and take part in all scouting activities.Young leaders have been given the opportunity to gain in confidence and get involved in organising activities etc.
We are open to help from people who can teach new skills and assist with training in sport activities etc . The cubs and scouts undertake badges where the leaders are always grateful to use the skills of experienced people.
