Action in Caerau & Ely mobilises local skills and action in the fight against poverty and inequality
*****Sept/Oct 2021 Fundraiser:
Sulafa, Kim, Charlotte and Sam will run 10 miles each for ACE on the first weekend of October! They are raising money for ACE Phone Friends, a vital befriending service we set up in response to the lockdowns last year. Phone Friends is needed more than ever but funds to continue the service are hard to find. If you would like to cheer on our lovely Team ACE runners and support the Phone Friends service, you can donate by clicking 'Fundraisers' on the top right of this page and choosing 'ACE team runners'. Thank you!
*****ACE works to create vibrant, equal and resilient communities for all, where people find fulfilment in themselves, each other, and the place where they live.
ACE (Action in Caerau & Ely) is a community development organisation that sits right at the heart of one of Wales' most disadvantaged but underestimated communities. Local people are active throughout the organisation as staff, trustees, members, volunteers and participants. We use our knowledge of our community and our friendships with each other to identify and nurture forgotten skills and assets, using these to build a better future for ourselves, our families and our neighbours. Why the community needs us
We run a community centre, help people in crisis, train local people for employment, make art, celebrate our local heritage, provide affordable food, and much more! We employ staff (many of whom live locally) but we also support a thriving network of community groups for all ages that promote mutual support and positive mental health. Our impact on the community
“If I’m unsure about anything, money, bills, housing or the kids and school, I pop into The Dusty as I know they listen, don’t judge and that they can help me.” Emma
"I've had mental health problems for over 20 years...helping others makes me feel better. I've been through what they're going through so I can support them." - Amanda.
"ACE have got me back on track." - Jack. Check out this article from TNL Community Fund to find out more about our work in 2020.
