We support families who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse to heal, grow and recover. We offer a range of services including counselling and music, art and play therapy, practical and well-being support for non-abusing carers and other family members and outreach services for children and young people aged 4-25 which include 1-1 emotional and practical support, group educational programmes, an open access drop-in and a crisis service. We are a trauma informed organisation and all our services are designed around the needs of the individual and/or the family unit. We provide our services free, both at our two premises in North Shields, and out in the community and within schools, colleges and children’s centres. We have lots of experience of delivering domestic abuse services – nearly 20 years - and of developing and maintaining our services to meet the ongoing needs of the families we work with.
Why the community needs usOur range of services are growing. We aim to:
- Improve the physical and mental health and well-being of families who have been impacted by domestic abuse
- Increase their personal resources by building self-esteem, confidence and assertiveness
- Empower them to increase their self-efficacy and live safely and independently
- Connect them to like minded peers and reduce isolation, improving personal support networks and reducing the need for intensive intervention in the future
