ADEPT: Helping People with Alcohol & Drug Problems and delivering educational awareness programmes.
A not for profit organisation that provides a range of services aimed at helping people who are fighting substance misuse. In addition to group therapy we also offer one to one counselling.
Adept deliver a 12-step abstinence based treatment programme for those individuals who require abstinence as a lifestyle choice. In addition, we also deliver educational workshops to various organisations and colleges and in particular to the Prince's Trust, whose clients are teenagers and young adults.
Why the community needs usClients who have successfully completed our treatment programme are more meaningful members of the local community due to their sobriety. Adept helps people back into work and education and contributes to the reduction of crime, anti-social behaviour and domestic violence by helping offenders stay sober and clean.
In addition, through our educational workshops we have increased people's awareness of what impact addictions have both on the individual and the wider family as a whole.
Our impact on the communityPeople are entering employment and further education; there is a reduction in crime and re-offending as clients become sober and clean which means an improvement in life for clients and the community.
An important part of our work is not only to help the client obtain permanent abstinence but also to have a positive outcome on the family as a whole, improving their opportunities and life choices. Part of that process is to offer counselling to the family.
We have a 68% success rate.
Voluteers will require a sound understanding of addiction and either have a diploma in counselling or be willing to train to the required standard. It is also a requirement to have a sound working knowledge of a 12-step programme or be willing to learn.
