We are a long-established and trusted local charity dedicated to supporting local people in need.
Every one of us is getting older, and regardless of circumstance it is something that we will all have to contend with. Hopefully, we will have the benefit of friends and family to help us along life's journey. Many older people living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan do not have this security and are all alone facing the uncertainty that old age can often bring. This is where local charity, Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale can offer a lifeline in so many ways...
Why the community needs usSadly, there too many lonely and isolated older people in our communities these days with only the television as a source of company. They are all alone to face the uncertainties that old age often brings without family or friends to help. Older people are particularly vulnerable to social isolation or loneliness owing to loss of friends and family, mobility or income. It can be a terrible and frightening experience to see no-one for days on end. Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale is here to help
Our impact on the communityFor over four decades, our charity has been there to help thousands of vulnerable and lonely older people from all walks of life and provide reassurance to them and their families. Whether it's Advocates acting on your behalf to resolve issues, providing essential support when leaving hospital to return home or move into a care setting, or simply offering much needed company and social interaction with the many groups and activities we run throughout the area.
Volunteers work at the heart of our charity in a variety of roles to help support local older people in need. We are particularly keen to hear from volunteers willing to assist with offering information and advice and also befriending.
