Active Together for Dementia

Active Together is a befriending project that matches volunteers with people living with dementia. They go out together and stay active. We do our best at matching people with similar interests, this could be gardening, swimming or just going out for a tea and a chat.

Why they need our service

People living with dementia are at risk of becoming isolated and lonely as their disease progresses. We aim to keep people active and out in the community for as long as possible. People living with dementia often need just a bit of extra support to get out and about. This does wonders for their physical and mental well-being.

Plan and expected results

We currently have 21 volunteers matched up with people living with dementia. We now have rolling recruitment for volunteers and service users and will increase those numbers substantially in the next year. Photo credit: Tilman Haerdle
