ANGMERING YOUTH FORUM BUS NEEDS YOU!!
Volunteers to supervise, Drivers, or money to keep it running
The aim of the Forum is to provide a double decker bus, that has been converted into a coffee bar/ chill area for the local youth as a place for them to go in the evening where they are safe and warm. This will keep them off the streets and so avoid anti social behaviour.
The bus will be equipped with computers and games consoles for them to use and also has a diner style seating arrangement on the top deck with each table fitted with plug sockets for various activities.
Why the community needs usThe bus is being used currently one evening a week in the village. We need to send it out more evenings. It can go to any local village/Parish where it is needed.
During the day it can be used for elderly residents, disabled or special needs.
Wherever a different and fun environment can help the community the bus can travel to and support.
It cannot do this without volunteers to man the bus and to drive it.
It also needs a steady stream of cash to cover the cost of insurance, tax, repairs etc.
Our impact on the communityAlready, the bus provides a safe base one evening a week for the youth. In their words, it stops them getting bored and doing silly things.
Already it has provided a safe haven for a youngster who had left home. A youngster who had gone missing was found safe and well, after help from the bus community youth.
We are encouraging education and learning through games other than computer games.
The youngsters enjoy helping to set up equipment and clearing away at the end of a session. They respect.
We need volunteers who can spare a few hours to help man the bus when it is out.
it can be weekly, monthly or whatever you can manage.
All volunteers will be CRB checked.
We also need volunteer drivers. To qualify all you need is a full driving licence, and be over 25 years old. We then need to put you through 15 hours training to learn to drive and handle the bus. We have qualified instructors to do this. More information can be seen on our website: www.angmeringyouthforum.co.uk
