To contribute to community cohesion, tolerance and integration.
To deliver activities which promote Health, Culture and Arts with the sole purpose of benefitting the lives of local communities in Berks, Bucks and other nearby counties.
Why the community needs usThe local community benefits by keeping alive and celebrating vibrant Asian heritage & culture which facilitates community cohesion in fun and creative ways. This in turn helps our multi-cultural society embrace and respect one another. Bhangra classes provide fun ways of keeping fit whilst reducing levels of diabetes, CHD, high cholesterol etc. Overall, many people from diverse backgrounds and communities both who live & work in Slough benefit through improvements in their health & wellbeing.
Our impact on the communityOver 500 people have enjoyed cultural learning & activities which increased their confidence & knowledge about their heritage as well as bringing together different communities. People have put learning into practise, such as singing traditional folks songs at Asian weddings, participating in folk dances, as well as sharing learning with other family members. Also noticeable improvements in lifestyle through physical activities and increased employability through volunteering opportunities.
Volunteering opportunities involve website maintenance, office work, research and marketing tasks, event management, data administration, fund raising and outreach work, stitching costumes.
