We provide free, volunteer-led support services to unpaid Carers in East Sussex

We help unpaid Carers in East Sussex to feel supported in their caring role by providing free, high quality, volunteer-led services that encourage independence and reduce isolation. A carer is someone of any age that provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. We work hard to make sure that local communities understand the importance of Carer's rights and know how to ask for help if they or someone they know becomes a Carer.

Why the community needs us
It is easy for Carers to become socially isolated, worrying about the person you care for and rarely leaving the house can quickly cause anxiety and depression. Our services enable Carers to continue to be active members of the community and take regular breaks from their caring role. Our volunteering roles give people from all walks of life the opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people and give something back. Long lasting friendships are made that benefit everyone involved.

Our impact on the community
Our services help Carers remain independent and reduce their social isolation. Many Carers are unable to leave the person they care for by themselves, or can only do so for short periods, often feeling anxious and unable to relax while they are away. Regular visits by a trusted volunteer help them to take time out each week, safe in the knowledge that the person they care for will have someone to keep them company. Our volunteers are rewarded by seeing the difference they make to someone's life.

Volunteers needed

Following our expansion into Wealden, Eastbourne and Lewes, we need to recruit around 70 volunteers for our Respite & Befriending Service. We also need volunteers for our Telephone Support and Young Carer Services as well as Driving and Fundraising volunteers. We are a friendly, local charity and support people with disabilities to volunteer with us. We reimburse expenses and provide excellent training and the opportunity to meet like-minded people and give something back to your community.
