Committed to empowering the lives of children & young people through Creative and performing Arts
APAA works with children and young people aged 6 - 24 years, who are seeking to engage in creative performing arts education. Programs are designed to empower young people, to become creative and confident members of their communities, thus increasing life chances & transforming their lives. Our fundamental activities are through 'The Academy of Development' which operate in five distinct areas: Vocal, Music, Performance, Technical and Professional Development. The young people work in teams, led by Development Managers, where each person also develops strong and supportive bonds within their teams, this also enhances their level of wellbeing. The Academy of Development allows us to nurture the next generation of emerging talent by building self confidence and self belief. We allow young people to express themselves in a fun, creative and safe environment, giving young people a voice that can be heard on a main stage.
Why the community needs usAPAA is a unique creative arts grassroots organisation providing essential services to over 100 children and young people from diverse backgrounds. Many have chaotic home lives and their challenging and risk-taking behaviour puts them at risk of educational or social exclusion. They often start with low self-esteem, poor educational achievement and low aspirations. APAA has developed a range of project activities which supports these young people to realise their potential through Creative Arts.
