AH has nearly 50 years expertise of supporting adults and young people with autism and it is the only organisation in the region offering direct services to individuals, as well as providing community-based support to hundreds of people each year. Services include Residential Homes, Supported Living, a Day Service for adults, University Mentoring Programme and a Community Access Team responding to an average of 11,000 requests for help each year.
Why the community needs usThere are an estimated 18,000 people with autism in Hampshire alone, including 7,000 children. Despite new strategies for adults with autism in the UK, services for those with autism are often inconsistent and fragmented, resulting in hundreds of people each year not receiving the support they so desperately need. Autism Hampshire's services are designed to address this, help improve more joined up support in the future and increase awareness of autism across the region.
Our impact on the communityAutism Hampshire is providing direct services to around 200 individuals each year and on average, is responding to around 11,000 requests for help. Around 25 of these will be from people who have reached absolute crisis point in their lives and need emergency support.
