Using sports/football to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in East London
To improve the lives of children, young people and adults using sports, in particular football. We deliver football leagues and tournaments, run football teams and coaching sessions, disability football sessions, women and girls sports & leadership projects, volunteering & mentoring programmes, gang & knife crime projects, pesonal & leadership training programmes, employment & career advice and guidance sessions, both accredited & non-accredited courses, educational visits & residentials.
Why the community needs usUsing football BFA engages with over 3,000 disavantaged and marginalised children, young people, adults and vets over the year and gives them positive activities to do which keeps them off the street, away from anti-social behaviour, crime, gang violence, vandalism and drugs & alcohol. It then uses its other projects to support the development of young people, inspire and motivate them and supports them into further education, employment and training. The community benefits as a result of this.
Our impact on the communityOver 3000 people directly engaged in positive activites every year. Reduction in anti-social behaviour, crime and gang violence between young people. Increase in commnuity cohesion and better relationships between people in the community. Reduction in isolation and supporting people back into mainstream society. Increase in young people's confidence & self esteem and employability skills. Increase in young people moving in to further education, employment or training, thus improving their lives.
We need experiecned fundraising volunteers to help with our fundraising efforts. We also need volunteers to help with marketing, publicity and IT.
