Positive Action inspires Positive Outcomes

Birmingham Wheelchair Basketball promotes inclusion and sport as well as awareness in Birmingham, putting on events to support inclusion and diversity, raising awareness of inclusion sport and activities that bring people together and build on community values, inspiring people to be proactive and improve on their health and well-being, to support and build on confidence, self-esteem and the ethos that everyone matters.
Our aim is to bring people together and support them to improve on their daily life and make new friends, relationships, giving opportunities to support and train, enabling them to be more independent , inspiring participants to engage in the community and break down obstacles which can affect them and others in the community, building on sustainability to build a better community for all.

Why the community needs us
We are in challenging times and the need to reconnect and bring people together has never been so important. Since before the Covid19 pandemic there has always been a need to support and engage people in the community with a disability or issue which has impacted on their daily life, to help inspire them to get active and offer opportunities which would change their mindset, empowering them to improve on their independence through playing sport or engaging in an activity. There is an even more greater need now with more people isolated and have no support or due to lockdown have been even more recluse.
By providing activities and playing sport we can engage, empower and support for now and the future providing opportunities and training which will support this need.

Our impact on the community
We have successfully supported groups and individuals to improve on their lifestyle through our sessions, building on their confidence and the sense of belonging and ownership which empowers individuals to grow and give them the tools to change their lifestyle and knowledge as we continue to support them.
Through our engagement we have be able to reach out to more people in the community and develop our sessions to empower more people, showing them how positive actions inspire positive outcomes.
This can been seen through our support with Superhero series founder and paralympian Sophia Warner in this year's alternate mass inclusion participation event #athomesuperheroes, and through our motivation and inspiration project on social media, interviewing Paralympians, Olympians and inspirational people from different backgrounds from around the UK and The World, such as Sally Gunnell OBE and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson
