Northampton | Community Support & Development
The Long Buckby Feast aims to enrich the community life of the village of Long Buckby by staging events on and around the August Bank Holiday, to revive a part of Long Buckby's heritage and to raise money for local causes.
Why the community needs usBuckby Feast Day benefits the village with a lively event that brings the community together. The Market Place is decorated, filled with stalls and thronged with people; last year over 2,000 participated - half the population of the village. Buckby Feast also holds other events such as a Produce and Craft Show, Open Gardens, Quiz Night, Murder Mystery, Guided Local Walks, Circus and Family Fun Day. There is tremendous support from people and organisations in the village.
Our impact on the communityIn 2012, the Feast raised over £6,000 to be distributed by the Trust to support local causes. Examples of groups that have been helped include: Long Buckby Public Library, Long Buckby Youth Centre, Long Buckby Junior School, Long Buckby Scouts, Long Buckby Childrens' Recreation Ground, Mill Park Nature Reserve, Monday and Wednesday Clubs for the elderly, St Laurence's Youth Group, Long Buckby Sports Field, cricket, rugby and football clubs and Long Buckby Community Centre.
