Buffy Playbus provides outreach support to children under 5 and their parents and carers.
We aim to reduce the effects of social isolation with the provision of good quality play and learning facilities, advice and support.
Families and carers are brought together in a safe and stimulating environment, this helps to enhance feelings of inclusion and boosts self confidence and well being.
Due to the mobility of the playbus, families are able to access the service within their own community, this aids the environment because most families walk to the bus.
Why the community needs usThe communities are based in Uttlesford, North West Essex. The area is mainly rural, sparsely populated, but only 1 hour from London. We offer 15 play sessions each week. We are visited by 120 children each week plus parents and carers. Buffy is unique we have been established for 18 years, we are well respected for our work in the community.
Our impact on the communityPlay activities on the bus enable children to develop as individuals and members of the community. Young children show increased engagement and this leads to higher attainment in education in the future. Children and adults have improved emotional health, well being and attitude, giving them higher levels of resiliance, confidence and self esteem. We aim to increase positive learning experiences for children and improve and develop parenting skills
