We use Perfroming arts and Filmmaking to support young people's education, wellbeing and aspirations
'Cause YOU Can supports the education and well-being of children and young people (6-25) who live in London's deprived areas. We use performing arts and film-making to boost confidence, raise skills and improve attainment. We do this through facilitating creative workshops, ending in live performances or film screenings, co-produced by participants and open to the public. Free creative events aid community cohesion and support young people's positive involvement in their community.
Why the community needs usWe create life changing opportunities for those who live in deprived boroughs. Our programmes complement mainstream education: we work with schools to boost academic attainment, improve integration and tackle bullying. Training and work opportunities are provided to 14 to 25 year olds. We support positive development by nurturing young people's natural ability to be kind and wise. We prevent the development of emotional or behavioural issues by enhancing well-being and participation.
Our impact on the communityThe strong and lasting impact on our students' confidence, well-being and attainment is evidenced by external evaluation reports. In schools, we raise literacy, social, communication, teamwork, media and leadership skills. We improve SEALs -Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning-, support the transition from Primary to Secondary, and address issues around integration of diverse students. Teachers regularly report sustained improvements in pupils' attitude, performance and participation.
