CAYP exists to support and develop recreational opportunities for children and young people who have fewer opportunities in life and who are living in need or deprived circumstances. We help them improve their self esteem and emotional health. We are a not for profit Community Interest Company run by and for members of the local community. CAYP reaches 500+ young people and their families a year.
Why the community needs usWe aim to provide positive opportunities for young people so that they may grow and develop in an environment which is structured, safe and fun. Young people are encouraged to make choices and help plan and shape the programmes we offer. There is a big gap in other service provisions and by offering activities young people ask for and providing them at low or no cost means that we can fill that gap.
Our impact on the communityOur outcome is for young people to be able to participate in more activities with fewer barriers preventing this, have improved confidence and self esteem and to value themselves and enjoy achievement.
We are always looking for volunteers and anyone is welcome to join us. We have many other clubs that we manage within CAYP which include the Christchurch Open Duke of Edinburgh Award Centre and The Dorset Childrens university as well as a very successful youth drama group - Christchurch Youth in Drama. Due to the nature of our work a C.R.B check will be necessary. For more information please contact Jae Harris on 07785935928
