The Hub is fun, exciting and supportive place for all young people between 11 and 19 years old.
'The Hub' is a volunteer-led community youth centre which provides free evening sessions for young people plus additional youth support. Our weekly Tuesday and Thursday nights have grown from 11 members in April 2016, to currently over 90 young people, with 20 - 40 regularly attending each session. Wednesdays we offer 'active' fun sports coaching sessions and we are also part of the 'Holiday Activities and Food' scheme to support young people outside school term time.
We offer a wide range of activities such as football, basketball, pool, air hockey, table tennis, art, crafts and games, with quiz nights, karaoke, discos and special events happening throughout the year. Our new kitchen (recently installed thanks to donations) means that each session we can cook with our young people, teaching them new skills and ensuring that they have fresh food. Young people can also just chill out and chat with friends.
Our amazing group of volunteers, led by our youth workers, offer many skills to share with young people. All our volunteers consider it such a privilege to be a small part of their journey to adulthood. There is always the opportunity for a good chat around the kitchen table, with additional support and advice on hand. We work with schools, family support and social services, community police, and youth projects where needed in order to try to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
This year we have been able to offer a dedicated mental health support course, plus additional targeted workshops and events. There are many opportunities for us to extend our youth work, to help young people grow in confidence and improve their life choices, as well as supporting particular individuals. Please donate if you can to this fantastic cause at a time when our young people need this environment so much!
The Hub is open to the community for private hire during the day and weekends. This hall hire helps to part-fund our youth work. We also appreciate any help you might be able to offer - from small painting jobs, a bit of shopping, workshops, sports coaching, youth work or just a listening ear. There are opportunities to support us in lots of different ways.
Please contact hello@claygatehub.org.uk for further information about hall hire, youth sessions or our work in general.
To be able to listen to and hang out with young people during our evening drop in sessions, teach them a skill or work with them on a project.
