Claygate Youth and Community Hub

The Hub is fun, safe, exciting and a great place for all young people between 11 and 18 years old

A bit of background…Claygate Youth & Community Hub is a registered charity which took over from Claygate Village Youth Association in early 2021. The main objects of both charities being to provide quality youth activities and youth work to Claygate and surrounding areas.

'The Hub' is now open to the community during the day and weekends for private hire with all proceeds going to fund running youth services in the building.
The youth centre in Elm Road has been a presence in Claygate for many years, and has for a long time worked in collaboration with Surrey County Council (SCC). In November 2019 SCC announced that they were no longer able to provide funded youth work and asked the community if there was interest in taking over the lease and providing youth work. We jumped at this as we’ve always seen the potential this building has for young people.

Our Thursday nights have grown from 11 members in April 2016 to over 50 as of July 2021. We have an amazing group of volunteers who run the youth club and offer many skills to share with young people. The volunteers are led by Andy Clifton and supported by Katie Holmes. Andy and Katie have been volunteering at the youth club for 5 years and have seen our young people go from teenagers to young adults. All our volunteers consider it such a privilege to be a small part of their journey to adult hood.

What we do…
We open every Tuesday from 5 to 7pm for activities such as de-stress yoga and then ball games.
On Thursday evening from 7 pm to 9 pm we offer a wide range of activities such as football, basketball, pool, air hockey, table tennis, art and crafts, drama workshops and much more.

Other services which are available at the club include a tuck shop, computers and printer for homework, D.J. nights as well as support and advice if needed. Young people can also just chill out and chat with friends.
