AIMHS (Actively Inflencing Mental Health Services)exists to enable people who experience mental health issues to have a voice to influence, develop and improve mental health services.
Why the community needs usWe work with people who have experienced mental health problems to influence and improve mental health services within Coventry and Warwickshire. We also work closely with our members to enable them to intergrate within the local community and we strive to develop their skills and knowledge to enable them to play a meaningful role within the mental health community and the wider communities within which they live.
Our impact on the communityOur work empowers those who traditionally have been discriminated against and not given a voice to build their confidence and learn skills to enable them to make their views known. Our members develop greater levels of independence within society, reducing their reliance on mental health services. We also develop their training and interview skills to enable them to take part in service user led training and to train others.
We are always keen to welcome people who have used mental health services or who care for somebody who has. We have various roles available including representation for NHS Trust meetings and interviews, trainers and mental health champions. We also have a limited number of voluntary positions for people with communications, office or administrative experience.
