The Crew Club has been supporting our community since 1999

The Crew Club is an independent youth and community charity who are very proud to support, children, young people and families living in and around the Whitehawk Estate. We aim to champion the needs of our community and put it and the people at the forefront of all we do.

Over the last 20 plus years we have supported thousands of young people by delivering hundreds of face-to-face hours of support. This support includes a range of sports, music & media provision, youth support, dance & drama sessions, and education support.

In more recent years we have supported many adults and families with their social, physical, and emotional well-being. We have achieved this through football, boxing, running and fitness groups, parent support groups, and through volunteering opportunities.

What’s important to our community is what’s important to us, so providing a place that brings people together to feel part of that community is at the core of what we do.

Why the community needs us
Children and young people on the Whitehawk Estate are mostly from families living in poverty or situations where there are evidenced levels of multiple deprivation. Our work supports young people through our Safe Start after school club, a girls group, music production, a wide range of sports, a young mens group and a youth council. Our work also provides many opportunities for parents including fitness classes, parent and toddler sessions, walking and running groups, and social eating groups.

Our impact on the community
Over the 20+ years The Crew Club has supported thousands of children and young people. Today we support on average 150 different people a day with well over 1000 face-to-face interventions per month. All of our services to children and young people are free as we don't want to create any barriers to accessing our services. We believe all children, young people and families living in Whitehawk and the surrounding neighbourhoods have talent, strength and dreams.

The Crew Club is a safe space where our members have the freedom to explore, create, learn and challenge themselves to make a difference in their own lives and those in the wider community. It is important to us that local people get equal benefit from living in Brighton and Hove, our city by the sea, so we provide support and resources for locals to have their say, organise, campaign and advocate for change and reduce inequality and unfairness.
