Cruse Bereavement Care Bedfordshire exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone suffering a bereavement to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Our policy is to treat each person as an individual and offer the support that together we believe is appropriate to them at that particular time of their life. This service is free and support is given by trained volunteers in the client's home.
Why the community needs usEvery minute of every day someone dies in the United Kingdom. The death of someone we love is likely to be the most distressing experience we will ever face. Grieving is complicated and sometimes it can be difficult to talk to family or friends so many people turn to Cruse Bereavement Care Bedfordshire and find that our independent confidential service helps them to cope.
Our impact on the communityIn 2016/17 we supported over 1,700 people and provided information to many more. Support enables clients to understand and cope with the physical and emotional aspects of bereavement and to resume a healthy, albeit changed, lifestyle with confidence. Clients learn to understand the various stages and implications of their grief and mechanisms for coping. Individuals become confident and more able to re-engage fully with family life, social activities and, where appropriate, return to work.
