Supporting children and families affected by life threatening illness and bereavement in Berkshire.

Daisy's Dream supports over 700 children facing and following bereavement annually. Over 250 children have received direct support. Professionally qualified staff offer intensive direct support in an environment that best suits the child; this maybe at home/school. Also available is a programme of bespoke events bringing together children and their parents/carers for therapeutic support and activities. We aim to provide support that will help children move forward in a positive way.

Why the community needs us
The long term effects of bereavement can be devastating if children are not able to access information and support to help them manage the impact of their loss. Childhood grief can frequently be misunderstood or ignored; it can significantly affect education, family relationships and social development both immediately and in the long term. Having effective, accessible support mechanisms in place is crucial if these problems are to be addressed helping families live with their bereavement.

Our impact on the community
Some of the comments received from families - All I know is you've made a desperately unhappy isolated family feel we belonged - the sun will shine for us again. My life became dark, isolated and very unhappy, but thanks to Daisy's Dream my family realised, life still goes on. It was exactly right for us, support without being intrusive and knowing the right moment to let go. It stopped me from getting worried, sad and scared.

Volunteers needed

We need you! We are looking for volunteers to help us throughout Berkshire to raise much needed funds to support our work - a free service is available to children and families for support through bereavement. We're looking for volunteers who can spare a little time to take part in events such as collections, fayres, face painting and craft activities throughout the year. We have a great team of volunteers and look forward to welcoming you to the team.
