The Dorset Education Fund supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in education
The Education Fund is part of Dorset Community Foundation's Dorset Fund which supports issues affecting communities across the county. The Education Fund has been set up to help ensure all young people have equal opportunities to reach their full potential and can access education and training. The Education theme of the Dorset Fund consists of two elements - the DCF Bursary Scheme and the Raising Aspirations Mentoring Programme.
Why the community needs usWe help young people from deprived backgrounds (those with with caring responsibilities, disabled or who come from low income families) fulfill their potential. Our mentoring programme raises the aspirations of pupils aged 14-16 from deprived areas across Dorset who are at risk of becoming NEETS (not in employment, education or training).
Our impact on the communityThe Education Fund aims to give young people a better opportunity in life despite their background or location. Our work will help shape the next generation of local business leaders, who will ultimately better the economic outlook of our county.
