Continuing to provide daily support to vulnerable individuals with all their neeeds

Equal People mencap support vulnerable individuals - particularly those with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. During the pandemic we are continuing to offer a weekly programme of activities and training groups and events, both online and in person following pandemic safety guidelines). Our Healthy Living Project has groups like catering, gardening, music and arts and crafts at our Resource centre in Ladbroke Grove and yoga, Zumba, boxing, mediation, social groups and more online. We make sure everyone we support is regularly contacted and care packages sent out.

Our Supported Living staff continue to provide 1:1 support with personal care, cooking, shopping, collecting and monitoring medication and helping people to stay safe and try and understand all that is happening. Our on-call service means support is available 24 hours a day. We are also providing extra support to families self-isolating - shopping and collecting medication.

Why the community needs us
We support vulnerable individuals to be heard and to be valued and to access, participate in, contribute to and influence their local and the wider community. We are a resource of information, advice support and respite for parents and carers. See the COVID 19 tab on our website (including easyread).

Our staff are providing daily support to vulnerable individuals in isolation - personal care, shopping, cooking, collecting medication and providing meaningful contact,including online and by phone with a variety of fun groups and healthy activities and links. We are helping keep people to stay in contact with their friends and the help and support they need to stay safe, fit and well.

Our impact on the community
We support 150+ individuals each week through supported living, homecare and our activities. At present, for many we are their only contact and support.....Members tell us they really value the current range of choices and opportunities. Our staff and volunteers are pulling together to keep the services going and you can help. Thank you.

Volunteers needed

Supporting people with learning disabilities/vulnerable adults to participate in/learn new activities and express themselves. Support organisational administration. Trustee role overseiing organisation. Update website, improve media inter-action.
