Film Oxford, is a long-established (since 1986) Digital Arts Education Charity in Oxford and regional Hub, providing training and creative activities for the community as a whole, (including adults and young people), and has had great success in running large community projects. Film Oxford has supported a community of filmmakers and digital creators through a programme of training, production support, networking groups and exhibition programmes for over 30 years.
Why the community needs usFilm Oxford works with people from the whole community but is particularly committed to supporting socially and economically marginalised groups. A key focus of our work is young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and adults and young people with learning disabilities.
Our impact on the communityOne group Film Oxford supports is the Shadowlight Artists, artists with learning disabilities. Digital Arts provide an ideal platform to give those with communication and learning disabilities a voice. The group have had tremendous success with the showcasing of their work in mainstream galleries and at national & international festivals. They have the drive and talent to further challenge negative perceptions about artists with disabilities.
