We're back, and offering our FREE cooking classes for those who need help the most

Food for Life Wandsworth is once again offering FREE Bags of Taste cooking classes to people at risk of food poverty. Lockdowns and cancelled classes don't stop us! In November, 2020, 30 of our first on-line learners took our mentored virtual course, which allows students to cook, with guidance, safely in their own homes. They learn three great recipes, cooking and food storing tips and money-saving ideas. We deliver FREE bags of ingredients to each student, who works with a mentor over What's App, email, or phone, to cook the meals, all of which cost less than £1 a portion. Once they complete the course, they are welcome to join an active students group on Facebook, where recipes, ideas and support are on hand. Our average students saves almost £1,500 a year on their food budgets by following our recipes and common-sense tips on shopping, cooking and storing ingredients.

Why the community needs us
Our community has never needed more help than now with their household budgets. We can help students make ingredients last, take advantage of bulk buying, and minimise shopping trips in the time of Corona virus.
Our impact on the community
We aim to have 30 people in each mentored virtual course. Our hope is that these students inspire their families to eat healthier, better, and more inexpensively.

We are looking for enthusiastic home cooks comfortable with social media to become mentors to students via What's App, email, or even landline. We also need a driver or two to deliver bags of ingredients across Wandsworth, about every two weeks.
