Fellowship of St Nicholas[FSN] supports children, young people and families affected by disadvantage
FSN provides effective/professional caring action without discrimination for children, young people and families suffering the effects of poverty, disadvantage, bereavement neglect and abuse. FSN through a range of projects and services is able to support vulnerable young people and provide help for families and children to cope in a rapidly changing society. Why the community needs usNearly 6000 children in Hastings live in poverty. FSN aims to empower and strengthen disadvantaged families and equip them with the necessary skills to improve their quality of life. FSN's objectives are to raise aspirations, alleviate poverty, discrimination, social exclusion, and to promote equality and participation through a range of practical projects. Specialist services like Dragonflies Childhood Bereavement supports children and young people coping with the loss of a loved one.
Our impact on the communityFSN has over 45,000 visitors and supports over 2000 individuals each year. Projects include therapeutic activities, peer support for children and young people; community learning including accredited training for parents, computer skills improving employability for local people, 4 nurseries/creches for 0- 5 years, ensuring readiness for school. Volunteer opportunities enable local people to raise their employment skills. Service users report increased confidence, empowerment and friendships.
